Quaint brunch experience with a varied menu and charming ambiance. Food: 5/5 The little free muffin “appetizers” were spectacular delicious and will be returning for those alone. They provide these cornbread poppy seed muffins with almond? glaze, which truly were the star of the meal. Fair portion sizes where you’re comfortably full but not stuffed. Service: 5/5 Despite coming at peak brunch hour, our party was seated promptly with minimal wait. Our server and hostess were friendly and warm as well. Ambiance: 5/5 It’s not a bright, light trendy brunch place for sure. Rather, Trio gives upper middle class grandma’s dining room experience, which is a mood in itself. Maybe late 90’s Sizzler? Very charming either way.
Made a group reservation for dinner here last weekend for my sister's birthday - we came into town to surprise her & celebrate with her. I did a Google search a few weeks before hand & found this place. Upon arriving, we were immediately taken to the patio area where we requested to be seated for our larger party - luckily the weather was perfect so it wasn't getting cold/chilly until we were already done & leaving. We had two servers. Both were good, especially the server that focused on our part of the group - her name was Kay Kay. Service was timely, friendly and on point. And so was the food! We all enjoyed all the appetizers, entrees & drinks we had. Personally, I ordered the Calamari as an app & the Shrimp Tortellini as an entree - delicious, perfect temperature & so filling! Others had entrees like the Salmon plates that were available, Shrimp & Grits, Steak, etc. All in all, we all enjoyed our meal - especially my sister who we were celebrating. I would recommend it to others to try & I would go there again if looking for somewhere to dine when I'm visiting the area again. Kid-friendliness: Though it is not printed, there is a kid's menu & options available Parking: There is a parking lot with spots around the restaurant
Great overall menu and a good brunch menu. The waitress had a great sense of humor and took good care of us. I had the shrimp and grits, which were fabulous. We finished the meal with their baked Alaska dessert… YUM.
Very nice meal, had shrimp and grits, with fresh green beans, great flavor, good portion, friendly service. Very good house wine. Will make this a stop when I am in town. Reasonable pricesDine in: YesTakeout: YesDelivery: Yes
The service and server were great! It has a great atmosphere with a diverse customer base. It's VERY cozy and they're hospitable. Love this place! We'll be back! JL
This is our neighborhood gem. Adam was great tonight. He even ran out to the parking lot to bring me my soup I forgot The St Pattys Day Specials we're spot on. Thanks again Gary.
I loved everything about this place....food, service, atmosphere AND pricing! It's hard to go to a restaurant that offers different food cultures and it all taste good and authentic. Welp, this is the place. I wanted everything on the menu as I looked around at other guests tables. But I went for the mashed potatoes, collard greens yes, I know... and a grilled chicken with a sauce that I couldn't get enough of! And the collards.....OMG! I am a southern girl and know about greens. They weren't my Mama's but if I had to go for the best alternative, this is where I'd go even before a soul food restaurant ! I thoroughly enjoyed this place.
The service was a little slow not a big deal but the waitress was very nice and polite. I ordered the steak with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Everything was pretty good. I hope they look to expand their cocktail menu in the future
Went to Trio last night and remembered all the reasons it's a long time Charlotte staple. I love Trio! The exposed brick, wood fired pizza oven, and atrium with indoor trees make for a wonderful atmosphere. Great spot for lunch or dinner. Also, I love that the interior still has a neat retro vibe. The food is always great and very reasonably priced.
The Cajun shrimp and grits was delightful. Pro tip: you have to request extra spicy. And the deserts were very delicious. Service was excellent as well. Prices are reasonable and not too expensive. We had an excellent dining experience!
