The Umstead Hotel and Spa

A wonderful hotel. I stayed here over Thanksgiving weekend when visiting family in the area. It was very peaceful and quiet with excellent service. Rooms were ample size with lovely details. The room was a good-sized to share with another family member, other than a spouse. Perfect property for a bit of strolling outside. Lots of trees and areas to walk on the property. Its proximity to main roads makes it easy to find, but it is set back a bit so that it is very quiet. The onsite restaurant seemed a little pricey but the food was excellent. Despite the fact that it was a holiday weekend and they were short-staffed and running with a limited restaurant availability, the service was great.

Gosh I love LOVE the Umstead Hotel & Spa! I’ve traveled all over the world and stayed st luxury 5-Star hotels like the Four Seasons and the Park Hyatts and I would put Umstead up there with the best of them. I’ve done their formal afternoon tea service twice, once as part of a bridal shower and another time with a friend. On my birthday which fell on a Monday, they didn’t have formal tea so we dropped by and had regular tea and they even brought me birthday cookies. Their tea is delicious; their prices are shockingly reasonable and the staff is beyond professional and the art work is stunning. Love love love the Umstead!

We stayed here the night after our wedding. I totally understand why this is a 5 star hotel! We we're provided champagne and chocolate covered strawberries as a gift along with a very nice card. We had in room breakfast and the food was amazing! I especially enjoyed the crabcake sandwich.

If you are looking for a truly unique dining experience with creative flare and huge flavors with wonderful guest oriented service then Herons is the spot for you. Sophisticated yet not pretentious I challenge you to find anything on the menu that is not unique to there Chef's menu or a greater attention to the smallest detail to maximize your taste and dinning experience. From service to presentation to taste Her on has earned every one of their 5 stars.

I've been a few times now and have always enjoyed the serene environment, and excellent quality of my massage services, as well as the exceptional high class quality of customer service and interaction from staff through the spa areas. This is hands down my favorite place to go to in the triangle. During my most recent visit, my friend and I enjoyed a massage, the sauna and the hot tub. I was ready to sleep afterwards! I was so relaxed! I highly recommend this place if you want to escape for a quiet self care day or gift a loved one a special pampering or stress melting experience. While the price point is higher than what you can otherwise find a massage for at other places, the full day access to all the spa and gym facilities on the day of your service is what really makes it special and worth the price. I don't know of any other places in the area where you can get a massage and enjoy both gender separate and coed spaces to relax in, showers, steam room, sauna and a whirlpool hot tub all included in the price. If you take full advantage of the spa, it is definitely worth the price!! I also highly recommend going early, before your massage service, to use the hot tub, sauna or steam room to warm up your muscles beforehand. You'll get even more out of your massage!
