The Fireplace Restaurant

The Fireplace has been a mainstay on Route 17 for generations of customers. Parents of friends introduced me to it in 1967 and I've passed it along to my kids, 4 generations in 50 years. Still making terrific flame broiled burgers at easy prices. Excellent pickle chips at a help yourself condiments buffet. Upgrade your drink to a shake, for an inexpensive dessert. Good fries, onion rings, pizza too. Often crowded but lots of seating. Totally casual. More than 5 stars.

Excellent sliced steak sandwich as usual for the last 40 years. A nice Texas weiner and fries/onion ring combo. With leftovers for lunch. A great place for really good American food, but, their menu is more extensive now.

Horrible System for taking orders. Let me correct that no system. Not enough people working at the counter. The place was way better and more efficient in the past. Maybe they should adopt a system like Shake Shack. Just because you've been doing something for over 50 years does not make it the best way.

The food is 3 stars when paired against the local specialty burger joints. What earns the Fireplace its 4th star is the fact that you instantly feel like you've been transported back in time the minute you enter. The decor is plain, yet timeless. Songs from the 50s and 60s fill the air. The place hasn't changed much from the days when my grandfather took my father here. My father took me, and now I take my children. In fact, my oldest son is an employee. In an era when we are constantly bombarded with chain restaurants, I love my little walk back in time every time I pull into the Fireplace!

A must stop if you are near Paramus. Truly a timeless classic. The food is great and will fill you up. Plenty of seating is a plus as well. You get your food quickly and it is always hot and fresh. Would 100% recommend.
