I want to start by saying you will wait up to 4 hours to see Dr. Katz. Its absolutely worth every minute! I have seen several doctors over 8 months. My symptoms were mostly sensory issues with headaches that came and went. Dr. Katz was the first to actually diagnose me and not just run tests and pass me off to the next doc. I came to Dr katz after a doctor was talking about putting me through a spinal tap and possible shunt surgery because he thought i was producing too much spinal fluid. Dr. Katz diagnosed me with migraines!!! Thank God I came to him before going through costly, painful, dangerous procedures. Dr Katz listened to me and respected my sensitivity to migraine management in my medical history and gave me a very safe mineral as a preventative. His staff was so friendly too. I'll never be able to thank them enough for putting me on a safe path to migraine management!!
My eye Dr referred me to Dr Katz and I am glad he did. Dr Katz diagnosed my condition and explained it to me in simple terms. Very knowledgable. His staff was very helpful and I had a good experience. He said feel free to contact him if I needed anything further. I felt in good hands.
Great Doctor. Super personable takes his time with patients and helps to find solutions.
Dr. Katz is the best, he is so knowledgeable and kind. He's the only doctor that figured out what was wrong with my eye. Excellent doctor! He is the ONLY Optho-neurologist in Central Ohio, so he gets extremely busy and gets behind with emergencies and I've read some reviews that people are frustrated with that...he is a brilliant, caring doctor, knows his stuff and is totally worth the wait. He has helped me so much and is a fabulous doctor!!!
I've seen Dr Katz for years. The check in process is quick and done mostly by confirming info and paying copay by tablet. I was able to call and get an appointment for the next week. The doctor is friendly and easy to talk to. He was reassuring of my worries and questions, using a good bed side manner and proof from my lab work and office exam.
Setting an appointment to see Dr. Katz wasn't a problem. I was, however, DEEPLY DISAPPOINTED in this doctor's bedside manner. He was rude, condescending when he spoke with me, & even asked me why I was holding my head a certain to be able to read his lips using my right eye - I am blind in my left eye. He didn't even let me know he was finished with my appointment. About 10 minutes after he walked out of the exam room I asked his nurse/assistant if he was returning & she confirmed my appointment was complete. Don't waste your money - he didn't even grant a diagnosis in my case -- had to go to another doctor for that!
I don’t even know what just happened. It was going well and then he left and never came back. I was like is my appointment over because I still had questions? Then they were like ok one second and so I’m waiting and then I went and asked if he was coming back. Then she told me “he has a couple people to see and then he’ll be back” WHAT!? It’s my appointment right now. I’m not waiting again.
Staff was incredibly helpful and nice. Office was very clean and there was free coffee In the waiting room. Dr. Katz was very nice, intelligent, and more helpful than the other two ophthalmologists I have seen for my condition. I highly recommend this office!
Appointment took almost 4 hours, of which I saw him 5-10 minutes. This was 2nd time I saw him and he pulled the same stunt both times saying he was going to immediately schedule me for additional tests/assistance which he didn’t and went to wait on other patients. Answered almost none of my questions told me I had permanent optic nerve damage and would have to learn to live it and even wrote them out to make it easier for him. A week later and no response. Lost all credibility when he lied to me about making appointments. If you can’t trust on small issues, how do you believe on major problems?
Dr. Katz is a very knowledgeable doctor. He likes to educate his patients so they can understand what is going on with them as well. He cares about his patients and takes the time they need. THEY DO NOT OVER BOOK!!! What people need to realize is, he is a specialist. There are a limited amount of doctors that specialize in the same medical field within this and the surrounding location. Meaning, they have MANY patients everyday. They could rush patients in and out. However, the quality of care would dramatically decrease. I have been seeing different specialists for my eyes for 27 years. I understand the demand and the wait that comes along with them. If they didn't care, you wouldn't be waiting so long. You are waiting because they do care about their patients. They want to make you better! That takes time, and every person is different. They don't know if your appointment will take 10 minutes or 2 hours. They take the time they need once you arrive. And, yes, they get backed up closer to the end of the day because they have seen more patients. A handful of these patients have taken more of their time than expected. Don't be rude or disgruntled at a long wait in a specialists office. Be thankful you are able to get quality specialized care to begin with. Not everyone is able to do so. In the grand scheme of things, a long wait is nothing in comparison to your health. But if you hate waiting, schedule early appointments. By the way, this is all coming from a very impatient person. I just understand the demand of qualified specialists, the pressure they are under, and truly appreciate the care they give!
