Pawz For Health In Home Dog Training

Janet is a miracle-worker. We had the privilege of Janet's guidance through at-home training for Penny, our 3 month old golden retriever puppy for several weeks. She recognized the challenges we were facing as we tried to incorporate Penny into our home and she asked that we consider her one-week puppy socialization program. Although reluctant at first, we ultimately trusted Janet's judgment and insight. Are we ever glad that we did! Never could we have imagined the total transformation in Penny's behavior that we would see after just one week at Janet's home. It is almost as if we have an entirely different dog -- one that we can all now fully enjoy and with whom our whole family is now excited to build a successful relationship. Prior to the training, Valley was extremely difficulty to control during walks, and would frequently jump up at people. Additionally, Valley was extremely excitable in our home, and would regularly bark excessively. Janet helped solve all of these issues with simple solutions that we could easily implement. Janet is a true professional that was always willing to adapt to our schedule. It was a delight to work with her and I would recommend anyone with dog behavior issues to reach out to her.

Janet gave us the tools to welcome our son's 5 year old big dog into our home. She taught us how to plan for events and situations so that we can have a calm home and outings. She practiced with us which has made us more confident in handling our big dog Max. Thank you Janet!

I have a 5 year old schnauzer. I bought him from a breeder when he was 9 months. My schnauzer is territorial. He barks when someone approaches me. He barks if someone is near the house. He barks in the back fenced yard if he sees someone near or far away. My dog is also reactive. If we meet a dog while on a walk, he first sniffs the dog like he is friendly. Then he starts barking and starts fighting the dog. I became concerned when he bit me on the hand while I was trying to pull him away. I knew then I needed to seek help. I was referred to Janet because she was trained to work with reactive dogs. She came to my home to observe and evaluate my dog. She recommended that my dog should receive positive reinforcement training. I began Janet's positive training sessions both at her home and mine. She taught me first how to walk and communicate with my dog. First, we worked on avoiding contact with a dog or person while walking. She has what I call a "u turn" method using a special food. Once that was accomplished, we worked on approaching and passing a dog or person. Janet used props and her own dogs to accomplish this. On the last lesson we met at a small shopping center where people were walking in and out shops. With the use of positive reinforcement, my dog sat and did not bark. What a win! My dog is not perfect, but thanks to Janet, I am able to walk with my dog without the fear of him barking at passing walkers. Janet truly knows dog behavior. She is professional and dedicated to dog training. I would not hesitate to seek her help again, if needed. Thank you Janet!
