Motel 6 Washington DC Northeast - Laurel

I was driving from New England to Charleston SC with my dog. I did not have hotel reservations because I wished to drive until I grew tired at the end of each day. I was growing tired when this Motel Six appeared right on the main road. It looked inviting and well kept. I checked in and had a great sleep that night! This is a no frills, safe, economical and clean motel. If you are looking for basic, clean and safe economy, check out this motel.

The rooms are okay. However, the only microwave is with the washers/dryers. You have to sign out the iron and board. The hot water is very unpredictable. There is a notice that says use the safe....there is no safe! They state they will change linen every 3 days. I have been here a week. The only thing that has been done is replacing my towels. Bed is left how I leave it or made as if a 3rd grader did it. The only good news is that it is cheap and close to everything.

The man who checked me in had to of been the ruddest person I've ever encountered during check-in time. I told him I wanted a smoking room, he gives me a non smoking room, then argues me down about what I said. He tells me it's too late to change the rooms since I'm past the allowed time to change a room... I guess if you don't run immediately to your room and back downstairs in 5 minutes you are sol... He then says he will have to come check the room to make sure I didn't "mess up the room". About 10 minutes later he comes to my room smoking a cigarette and does a firm complete walk through then gives me the key to another room. With such a careful walk through I'd assume my next room would be just as clean and taken care of. Boy was I wrong... I guess because of his inconvenience of having to come look at my room and giving me the key to a new room he gives me the nastiest smoking room possible. I've stayed here for years on and off and this was a completely different experience. I'd have to say my last experience almost 2 years ago when the water was shut off overall was better than my last stay. Least my room was clean, the staff was friendly, and apologetic to the situation. This dude that waited on me clearly hates hit job... Why not bring in someone who doesn't have a street thug mentality attitude do customer service??? If it wasn't already after 1am when I checked in I would of just went somewhere else. I know for sure I'll never reserve anything online again until I see what I'm dealing with.

It is difficult to rate this place, after having stayed at Marriott's for the past 15 years. My opinion may be a bit biased. It was a small room. My only complaint really was the beds. The mattresses are horrible! Upon entering the room, I could SEE the sag in the mattresses! It really is the only thing that I found wrong. This is obviously not a high end hotel. It served it's purpose for what we needed it for. All of the staff was pleasantly friendly. I would go back again, but only if the mattresses were replaced. As far as recommending this place... it's an individual thing. If you don't have a lot of money, then I say stay here. I have stayed at another location and the experience was awful. This place was clean... no smelly odors. The mattresses were the issue.

It was a great hotel with a clean environment and plenty of towels. The people were very nice and did.a great job. Plus the price was a steal. Couldn't find anything cheaper so.that was a plus
