Latitudes Apartments

Update! When we rented the space it was 581 sq. ft...pretty damn small. Now suddenly the same space is 633 sq. ft on their website. Doesn't take a mathematician to add the 40 ft balcony and 12 ft storage closet...lol! What a joke! I was torn about writing this, since overall our 3.5 years here was average to good, until it wasn’t... The Pros: As a whole the apartments are nice and the grounds are kept up fairly well, at least since new management came in a few months back. Before that we couldn’t even get the trash picked up or outside pressure washed. The office is helpful as long as you are not questioning procedures or giving any criticism. Maintenance was always fairly good and fast. During our stay our washer, hot water heater, and dishwasher were replaced. Washer was new, hot water heater was fine and put in promptly…dishwasher was used and dirty – not even wiped off. We were told that was due to them renovating other apartments and therefore would not replace ours with a new one in the same color as before. Parking was never an issue, we always found spaces for both our vehicles and any guests. Pool was always kept nice and little events were held now and then to make you feel like the high rent was just part of the “community perks”. We paid rent on time without fail so we didn’t have issues with that aspect, but beware: The Cons: These places are OLD. The stove literally had wood grain and an analog clock and so did the dishwasher until it conked out. Most apartments have been redone since we first moved so things are probably different now. When we first moved in, the apartment was FILTHY and we had to have someone come clean again. Stove had cleaner still inside, windows had mildew all over, to which we were told to “just use a Clorox bleach pen”. AC inside had mildew everywhere. Cabinets had old food crusted in the top part and the paper peeling. Under cabinets and doors were falling apart. Ceiling fan was black and when they “re-cleaned” they never covered the carpet and it had black dust marks which we cleaned ourselves. Rent increases each time with little for them to show for why until the new management finally made it look livable outside again..They also allow solicitation…you will be familiar with every restaurant, moving company, store opening, etc, by the time you leave since there are flyers stuck in doors daily. READ READ READ your contract, because even though most final bills are due at the end of the lease, Latitudes has a clause that they will take it from your deposit if they feel like it. This was smugly pointed out to us. This included charges that were backdated for at least a month. Water bills were always unusually high and got higher even though we were told it was on an individual basis for 2 people who worked all day and one toilet and washing machine. Our deposit return was a FRACTION of the $$$ we paid in, and that was like pulling teeth to get back…they literally cut the check 3 days before the deadline, and that was after having to remind them that they still owed it. During the final walk through there were 2 issues stated to my boyfriend, both of which were discussed with the office prior, and were not honored, therefore being removed from our deposit. Don’t try to paint here…even if you follow office procedure you will, YOU WILL be charged for it. Any stains including under the carpet will be assumed to be pet stains and even though we requested proof of testing that they told us they did, we never got that and that was also deducted. Beware of the fine print so you don’t feel scammed, and don’t trust anything that is told to you unless it is in writing. They are hoping that you will not get the deposit back (in Virginia landlords have to pay you back interest on your deposit) or hope you forget they owe you a check, or honestly like us, get so busy moving to the new place that you don’t have time to fight it. Up until move out, I would have given Latitudes a higher rating even though it was just average, but the sneaky final paperwork left a sour taste for sure.

This is completely the worst apartment complex i have ever lived in. Save yourself the agony and look somewhere else. The bugs are everywhere and even when your house is clean and there's nothing out of place they still linger around because the incompetent pest control workers do not spray correctly and do the minimal job. When you first look into moving there you will talk to anybody and everybody on the right side of the office building and they will give you the impression that they have a well trained staff that will be able to help you with arising issues, but as soon as you sign that lease all of a sudden nobody knows anything!!!

Stay away!!! Negative reviews are correct. Bugs no matter how clean you are, Exterior of the place looks nice, but inside is horrible. Poor paint jobs.. A/C is not working and they are not trying to help you. HORRIBLE

DO NOT LIVE THERE !!! Very Bad Place!!! Everything is old.. Washer like 15 years ol , if something is not working then wait at least 3 weeks to fix. Other problem is Everywhere is BUGS ..I never made this kind of mistake all my life.. And please be careful before sign the lease !!!!!!!
