First Landing Charters

Captain Jay was very accommodating when we decided that we wanted to fish at the last minute on our charter. Not only did he make us feel comfortable, he taught the teens how to fish. We cannot wait to book our next outing with Jay! He's the best!

We enjoyed ourselves so much, we booked 2 days in a row! First day was the 2 hour dolphin excursion and the next day we had Captain Jay take us out fishing. We had a great time. He knew the best spots for seeing dolphins and catching fish. We even saw a great white shark, which surprised all of us but will be something we never forget.

Beautiful day and nice boat. There was no mate on the boat - apparently good help is hard to find. It was just us and the captain, so I ended up doing quite a bit of work as a substitute first mate. I was OK doing the work, but it wasn't what I signed up for. Also wanted to include bottom fishing as part of the trip, but the captain - a very nice guy - was determined to find us a cobia. I appreciate his determination, but we spent only 10 minutes bottom fishing. All day and no fish. As we got ready to head home, we came upon a bait ball and reeled in a few fish. We caught a few blues, it was exciting and all, but there was no first mate to help out, change tackle, etc. It was frustrating.

I've experienced being on the water and not getting any bites or catching any fish. However, to spend money to go out on a charter and not even touch a pole was a bit much. We basically paid to watch the captain NOT catch a fish. No more charters for me.

A must-do in Virginia Beach! We went on a dolphin/sunset cruise and couldn't have had a better evening out. The Captain did a brief safety briefing, asked if we had any thing in particular we wanted to see on the weather and we were off. The boat was clean and comfortable bathroom on board!. We saw so many dolphins, it was just amazing. Watching the sunset from the water was an incredible experience, then the Captain kept us out long enough for us to see the beautiful lights on the Lesner bridge and harbor. What a fantastic experience. I highly recommend and we will be back!

We had a wonderful time viewing dolphins for 2 hours on a Sunday. Captain Jay ex Navy is very good at what he does - well navigated, super humble, and a fun guy to talk to. As we were riding out past the lighthouse, we were greeted also by the excursions rigid inflatable boa that is part of the sister business. Absolutely cool to watch the RIB in action, and great knowing about the history of the dolphins in this journey. We'll be back in the future!

My husband and I went on a whale watching tour and had an excellent time. We saw a juvenile whale, tons of dolphins, and a seal. I would totally recommend this company and I can’t wait to go again!

Our group had a fantastic time out on the water with First Landing Charters! Wendell and Jay waste no time getting you right to the action and ensuring you have a successful fish! On this outing, we caught many sea bass, Spanish mackerel, and trigger fish! Highly recommended!

We had a lot of fun! The gal with whom we spoke I believe her name was Katie was very kind and courteous, and our captain was very knowledgeable.
