Chicago Speakeasy

Unbelievably fantastic! Didn't know it was prom night but still got 5 of us seated in a reasonable amount of time. Waiting area was nice and comfortable. Staff was extremely professional and knowledgeable. Service time was reasonable. Our food was cooked to perfection and good sized portions. They have an amazing round salad bar with so many choices. Kids were happy, adults were happy and we left with 3 boxes of leftovers. Definitely worth the money. We will return again.

Very good pace to eat. Kind of fancy. I would make sure you wear something like what you would go to church in. Food is delicious, the salad bar is awesome. And service is fabulous.

Chicago Speakeasy is always been one of my favorite restaurants in the Highland Park area. I remember going there as a kid with my mom and dad. I still try to go there every chance I get their salad bar and staff are very amazing. And they always have my favorite spaghetti special. Can't say enough about Chicago speakeasy. I enjoy every trip down there.

I used to frequent Chicago Speakeasy, but I stopped going several years back (got tired of fruit flies in my drinks). I've only been three times in probably ten years. There's really nothing wrong with it. The steak is good. The service is wonderful. Their "famous" salad bar is adorable. The prices are reasonable. The atmosphere is dated but what you'd expect from an old steakhouse. But it's just outmatched anymore. It's great for the neighborhood, but if I want amazing steak, I do have preferences elsewhere that are better. It's still an overall good place.

I really wanted to love this place. For the money the steak was underwhelming. The mushrooms I ordered to compliment the steak were pretty bad. The steak fries clearly frozen which was a pretty big disappointment. I will say though they have the best breaded shrimp that I've ever had. Its unfortunate that the tartar sauce was appalling. I've had a better $9 dollar steak at a dirty old family restaurant than I did here which cost me 23.00. Had the bill been less than half of what I paid I wouldn't have been so harsh. My bill with tip was around $90.00. Check this place off my list of places I've been as well as places I'll not return to. Waitress was too notch. She deserved the 35% tip I gave her. She should not have to suffer for mediocre overpriced food. Thanks.
