Cal Maritime Dining Center

My first meal at this place was cold bagels and cheese, that's it, that was the only option. It didn't get much better from there. The whole system is set up like an monopoly. With students required to purchase a meal plan and no other on campus eating options available nor local competition, they are able to charge students through the roof without the incentive to improve the quality of the food. On a separate note: they have strict dining hours so if you have class during those times, then you just have to go hungry and you're SOL.

Chartwells uses a standardized menu. Chefs have no creative license. Tomato basil soup tastes like waterd down V8, chicken is usually over cooked, salad bar is left over vegetables, tofu is tough as jerky, do not core pinappine before it's cut, and much more.

The dining center only produces adequate meals when they want to put on a show for perspective students and their parents. The rest of the time, avoid eating here if possible.

Its like playing russian rullette with a fully loaded gun, but instead of being shot, you constantly get disappointed more than you thought possible. They are experts in the art of hitting new lows and achieving ultamate mediocrety. With the exception of the dessert lady "mama" this is truly a place where God himseld has turned his back upon.
